We’ll be attending the Dorset Spring Show on 9th and 10th May, do come and say hello. Members of the Love Local team will be there demonstrating and showcasing what we produce – and why it matters. This year’s theme focuses on Ultra-processed Foods and why it’s so important to support local producers and British farmers. I am a massive supporter of Agriculture and after reading Food Science at the University of Nottingham I spent my 40 year career in the Food Industry where I worked for companies such as Northern Foods and Sainsbury’s. In Northern Foods we made quality ready meals for M&S using UK 28 day matured beef, fresh vegetables from farms grown in Lincolnshire and made fresh pasta using British eggs and Italian durum wheat. Premium quality ready meals sold by UK supermarkets are made NO DIFFERENTLY to how I would cook a quality bolognaise at home. You have zero knowledge about “demon ultra processed foods”. Quality producers such as Premium Supermarkets (M&S, Sainsburys & Waitrose) do more to support British Agriculture than you will ever know. As a Food Technologist for Sainsburys I know we did more to support and promote British farming than many cut price supermarkets.
