Sherborne Literary Society has announced a varied programme of author events for August and September, with talks ranging from travel writing and Georgian history to contemporary fiction.
On 14th August, travel writer Rory MacLean will launch his latest book, Geography of Heaven, at the Butterfly House in Castle Gardens. Inspired by the death of his wife, the book explores beliefs about the afterlife across different cultures and places.
Actor and writer Karin Fernald follows on 19th August with an illustrated talk on eighteenth-century novelist and diarist Frances “Fanny” Burney at the Digby Hall. The event is organised jointly with The Arts Society Sherborne.
The autumn programme begins on 9th September, when novelist Sofka Zinovieff will be in conversation with Lou Troup at D’Urbervilles about her latest novel, Stealing Dad, a darkly comic family drama spanning Greece, London and the Hebrides.
