August sees a big change at The Exchange as Susanna Greenwood takes up her position as the new Manager. We are saying goodbye with huge thanks to Sharon Clifton who started as a volunteer in 2007 and has been General Manager since 2022.
The end of July saw Rockit Legends test the capacity of The Exchange’s stage with 140 singers performing together. Members of all four Rockit choirs sang to a sell-out audience at the venue for North Dorset.
Susanna’s new era started with family-themed events for the summer holidays. In partnership with Artsreach there are workshop events for children, a Lego Workshop, followed by a Robot Workshop, suitable for 6+. On Sunday 9th August there was a popular fun Silent Disco for families with primary school aged children.
On 13th August, Cinema at The Exchange has a matinee showing of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids – a chance for parents who loved the film to re-live the past and share it with the new generation of full-size kids. On the evening of the same day is a showing of EPiC Elvis Presley in Concert, a treat for the adults. There is no National Theatre Live in August, but make a note of 17th September for Liaisons Dangereuses with Lesley Manville and Aidan Turner.
Before that of course is the Cheese Festival in Sturminster – the Real Ale tent is organised and staffed by supporters of The Exchange. Join them for a pint – as always, a generous share of the profits from the beer comes to The Exchange.
On the Saturday night of the Cheese Festival, On the Saturday (12th September), Exchange patron Jamie Moses returns with Jamie and The Falcons, described by Queen’s Brian May as ‘the ultimate party band’.
