The first is Love Parks Day, taking place in Borough Gardens on Thursday 23rd July from 11am to 3pm. The annual event celebrates the town’s parks and the staff who care for them, with a programme of activities including Punch and Judy shows, face painting, bouncy castles, tennis taster sessions, arts and crafts, science workshops, gymnastics displays and hands-on activities from local organisations. Food and drink will also be available throughout the day.
Two days later, on Saturday 25th July, Let’s Go Fly! Kite Festival takes to The Great Field from 11am to 4.30pm after being postponed from June because of poor weather.
Organised by the Dorchester Tourism Partnership with the White Horse Kite Flyers, the festival will feature giant display kites, stunt-flying demonstrations with commentary, free kite-making activities and a dedicated area where visitors can fly their own kites. Market stalls, food vendors and arts and crafts activities will also be available, together with the unveiling of the new Big Dorchester Kite.
Both events are free to attend and are open to all ages, offering a chance to make the most of the summer holidays outdoors.
