Terrible Tudors and Awful Egyptians return to Poole

Date:

History’s nastiest characters are heading back to Lighthouse, Poole this autumn as the hugely popular Horrible Histories stage shows Terrible Tudors and Awful Egyptians arrive for a four-day run from 5th to 8th November.

Terrible Tudors

Based on Terry Deary’s bestselling books, the productions have become a favourite with families by proving that history can be every bit as entertaining as fiction. Packed with comedy, songs, larger-than-life characters and spectacular 3D special effects, the shows bring famous periods of history vividly to life while slipping in plenty of genuine facts along the way.
In Terrible Tudors, audiences journey from the reign of Henry VIII through to Elizabeth I, meeting the colourful monarchs who shaped Tudor England. Along the way there are stories of Henry’s wives, his battle with the Pope, Bloody Mary, the Spanish Armada and plenty of gruesome tales.
Meanwhile, Awful Egyptians uncovers the fascinating world of Ancient Egypt, exploring everything from mighty pharaohs and towering pyramids to mummies, tombs and the elaborate beliefs surrounding the afterlife. The production promises all the grisly details that have made the Horrible Histories books.
Birmingham Stage Company’s Horrible Histories productions have been seen by millions of people across the UK and abroad. Their mix of humour, music and theatrical spectacle has helped introduce countless children to history while giving parents plenty to laugh at too.
The shows run at Lighthouse, Poole, from 5th to 8th Nov. Tickets and details from lighthousepoole.co.uk or by calling 01202 280000.
