New heritage trail brings Sherborne’s history to life

Date:

A new self-guided heritage trail is offering residents and visitors a fresh way to explore Sherborne’s historic buildings, landmarks and stories.

Jointly funded by Sherborne Town Council and Sherborne Chamber of Commerce, the new Sherborne Heritage Trail is accessed through the free TrailTale app. Walkers can follow the route at their own pace, with optional audio narration bringing the stories behind each stop to life.
There’s no need to book a tour or keep to a schedule – and, usefully for anyone who has watched their phone signal disappear at an inconvenient moment, the trail also works offline. Simply download the TrailTale app to your phone, find Sherborne in the list of towns and start your walk.
‘We are delighted to give residents and visitors a new way to explore Sherborne,’ said Town Clerk Steve Shield. ‘The trail is easy to access, while audio narration brings the history of the town’s key landmarks to life, hands-free.’
A youth element may also be added, with Sherborne Youth Council developing ideas for future additions.
