Wimborne u3a FREE open day
20 June at 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Wimborne u3a is inviting people to a special Open Morning on Saturday 20 June, a free community event showcasing the wide range of learning and leisure opportunities available to retired and semi‑retired residents in the area.
The event will run from 10am to midday at the Allendale Community Centre and will be officially opened by the Mayor of Wimborne.
Visitors will be able to explore up to 60 groups and courses, covering everything from languages, walking and dance to IT, sport, arts, history and more. Group leaders will be on hand throughout the morning to chat, answer questions and help people find activities that match their interests.
Chair of Wimborne u3a Ashley Rowlands said: “There’s so much on offer locally from Wimborne u3a and the Open Morning is the perfect chance to explore it all in one place. People are often surprised by the variety and by how friendly and relaxed the u3a atmosphere is.”
Wimborne u3a offers a vibrant programme of learning, leisure and social activities designed to help people stay active, curious and connected in later life. Membership continues to grow as more residents discover the benefits of shared learning and new friendships.
One Wimborne u3a member commented: “I’m 74 and there aren’t so many places where you can play table tennis for so little cost. I went along after a hip replacement to build up my strength and co-ordination and it’s done me proud. What I particularly liked was that everyone was so welcoming and accepting of my limitations when I first started.”
