HURN COURT OPERA – PRIZEWINNERS’ RECITAL
27 September at 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Some of the UK’s brightest up-and-coming opera singers will perform a not-to-be missed recital in the elegant setting of Merley House, Wimborne.
Dorset-based arts charity Hurn Court Opera (HCO), which provides performance and training opportunities for the opera stars of the future, has cherry-picked two vocalists from its prestigious 2025 Singer of the Year Competition. The recital follows the success of HCO’s breathtaking production of Verdi’s La Traviata, which played to packed houses in Christchurch, Blandford and Winchester this spring.
The recitalists are Quito Clothier (tenor) and Will Prior (countertenor), accompanied by Matthew Clemmet on piano.
Through an annual programme of recitals, operas and masterclasses, HCO gives young singers a performance platform and access to the guidance of people at the top of the profession. There are benefits for audiences, too, who gain affordable, local opportunities to hear the next generation of vocal stars, supported by professional orchestras and ensembles. Since its inception in 2017 HCO has produced eight fully-staged operas, providing much-needed paid performance opportunities to many young singers.
This recital provides a unique opportunity to hear a beautiful programme of music sung by two prizewinners of the 2025 HCO singing competition, which is well-known as a springboard for the careers of young opera singers. Many go on to appear in productions with HCO or other opera companies and festivals across the UK and around the world.
An additional recital will be held at St Paul’s Church, Winchester on Saturday 26 September.
