Mock the Week and Live at the Apollo favourite Angela Barnes will headline the launch of a new regular comedy club in Verwood this October.
Barnes swapped a career in health and social care for stand-up in 2010, winning the BBC New Comedy Award just a couple of years later. She went on to become a regular on Mock the Week, with appearances on Live at the Apollo, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and House of Games, and she is a regular guest on Radio 4’s The News Quiz.
She heads a triple bill for the first Coastal Comedy night at Verwood Hub on 17th October, joined by comedy magician Wayne the Weird and Welsh comedian David Arnold.
The launch also marks something new for Verwood. Coastal Comedy, founded in 2015, has been running live stand-up nights across the South West for more than a decade, and the Hub will now host regular shows.
Founder Adrienne Coles is based locally and personally selects each line-up as well as hosting the nights: ‘Bringing Coastal Comedy to Verwood is about establishing an affordable regular night out on my own doorstep. I want to bring established comedians and newer talent to a local audience.’
Coastal Comedy launches at Verwood Hub on Saturday 17th October. Tickets £18 early bird, £21 advance or £24 on the door.
