A North Dorset organic farm is marking the turning of the farming year with a free community gathering of farm walks, apple pressing, traditional games and autumn food.

Primrose Organic Produce, near Marnhull, will open its gates for All Hallows’ Eve at Primrose: The Turning of the Year on Saturday 31st October.
Visitors can join seasonal walks around the farm and market garden, seeing what is still being harvested and how the land and livestock are prepared for winter. There will also be pumpkin carving and apple pressing, plus apple-and-spoon and sack races and the Great Primrose Tug of War.
Traditional seasonal food will be available, including soul cakes, roasted chestnuts, toffee apples, stew and soup, alongside mulled cider, hot apple juice and gingerbread hot chocolate.
It is the third free seasonal community event Primrose has held this year: ‘Life feels expensive for a lot of people at the moment, so it was important to us that families and local residents could just come along without there being an entry fee,’ said Gilla Primrose. ‘At this point in the farming year, harvest is coming to an end and the whole rhythm of the farm changes.’
All Hallows’ Eve at Primrose runs from 10am to 4pm on Saturday 31st October at Lymburghs Farm, near Marnhull, DT10 1HN. Entry is free.
