Port Regis has been recognised for its environmental work, winning the Environmental Achievement Award in the Talk Education Awards for Innovation in Education 2026.
The Motcombe school was selected from prep and senior schools across the UK and internationally, with judges recognising its ‘Green Vision’ programme and the way environmental issues are being incorporated into school life.
Among this year’s projects was a 32-page Green Vision newspaper, researched and written entirely by pupils, alongside a school-wide environmental day combining curriculum work with practical activities.
The school also hosted an Environmental Summit, bringing in speakers and organisations working in conservation and environmental education. Practical projects at Port Regis include tree and pollinator planting, work to increase biodiversity and new solar panels to help reduce the school’s carbon footprint. Pupils have also been fundraising for The Iris Project, which supports youth-led environmental projects. Jemima Mills, who has led the school’s Green Vision work, said: ‘The enthusiasm and passion of our pupils, as they engage with protecting the natural world and tackling the climate crisis, give us real hope for the future.’
