Year 11 students at The Blandford School celebrated the end of their GCSEs in style with a prom night featuring everything from supercars and tractors to an army vehicle and even an ice cream van.
The celebrations began at the school, where parents, carers and staff gathered to watch students arrive in a wide variety of vehicles, reflecting the personalities and interests of the year group.
After making their entrances, students travelled to The Crown Hotel aboard a vintage-style bus provided free of charge by Damory Coaches, where they enjoyed an evening marking the end of their time in Year 11.
The event was supported by several local businesses and organisations. Photographer Rob Young volunteered his time to capture the arrivals, while Justin Grearson Entertainment provided music for the evening. Decorations were supplied by Cards, Gifts & Balloons, with additional support from Insight Security and staff at The Crown Hotel.
The prom was organised by Head of Year 11 Maisie Wheatley and Year 11 Guidance and Welfare Officer Leanne Newman, who coordinated the event to give students an opportunity to celebrate together after completing their exams.
The evening brought together classmates for one final occasion before many move on to colleges, apprenticeships and employment, while others will continue their studies at The Blandford School Sixth Form.
The school said it was proud of the Year 11 cohort and wished students every success as they begin the next stage of their education or careers.
A number of students will return to the school’s sixth form in September to continue their studies, while others will embark on new opportunities elsewhere.
The prom marked the culmination of five years at the school and provided a chance for pupils, staff and families to celebrate the achievements of the year group before they begin the next chapter in their lives.
