Dorset brewer Hall & Woodhouse has secured a £55 million refinancing package that will support long-term investment as the family-owned business prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary next year.
Based in Blandford St Mary, the brewery traces its roots back to 1777 and operates around 140 pubs across the South West and into London. It is best known for its Badger beers, including Tangle Foot and Fursty Ferret, alongside its Outland craft range.
The refinancing has been provided by Barclays, which has worked with the business through a number of growth phases, including investment in its pub estate and support during the Covid pandemic.
Paul Barnett, chief financial officer at Hall & Woodhouse, said the new agreement would provide ‘greater simplicity and confidence’ as the company continued to invest for the future.
He added: ‘Barclays has supported us through different stages of growth, and we’re pleased to be building on that relationship as we plan for the years ahead.’
The refinancing is intended to give the business greater financial flexibility at a challenging time for the hospitality sector, while providing a platform for continued investment in one of Dorset’s best-known family firms.
Alongside the new lending agreement, Barclaycard Payments has also secured a three-year contract to continue providing payment services across the company’s estate.
