Former Dorset journalist Faith Eckersall is celebrating the launch of her second novel, Death by Canapé, the latest instalment in her Dorset-set Piddlington Gazette Mysteries series.
Faith spent more than 20 years working in Dorset during a 40-year career in regional newspapers before moving into freelance writing. Missing the atmosphere of a busy newsroom, she used those experiences as the inspiration for a fictional local newspaper and the characters who populate her novels.
The new book follows disgraced reporter Harry Hedges as he attempts to revive a struggling weekly newspaper while investigating a mystery in the Dorset town of Piddlington. It follows Faith’s debut novel, The Body on the Roundabout.
A multi-award-winning feature writer, Faith now contributes to publications including Country Living and The Daily Telegraph. She gained an MA in Creative Writing from Brunel University and won the Grazia Women’s Prize for Fiction First Chapter Award in 2018.
Faith will discuss her books and her career in journalism at a launch event on 16th June in Dorchester, where she will be in conversation with literary agent Caroline Montgomery. The event will explore the real-life Dorset influences behind her humorous crime stories and the colourful world of local newspapers that inspired them.
