Shaftesbury Fringe Brings Streets to Life with Spectacular Free Outdoor Performances

In July 17th to 19th, the historic streets of Shaftesbury will burst into life as Shaftesbury Fringe presents an exciting programme of performances, already shaping up to be an even bigger event than last year. On Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th July, the High Street will be closed off for free street performances, transforming the town into an open-air celebration of creativity, music, and joyful community spirit.

Among the highlights will be a Flash Mob Wuthering Heights Singalong, promising a spectacular gathering of red-dressed participants channelling Kate Bush in a joyous tribute that audiences are encouraged to join.

Additionally, visitors can enjoy a musical performance by Human Magpies—a playful and imaginative theatrical act sure to intrigue and entertain.

Celebrating traditional culture and youthful talent, young dancers will showcase traditional English dancing.

Later, the uplifting harmonies of a local village a cappella choir will fill the air with song.

To add to this, an all female troupe will also entertain visitors with a selection of sea shanties.

Dance lovers can also look forward to a lively line dancing exhibition, inviting plenty of foot-tapping and perhaps even a few impromptu participants.

In one of the Fringe’s most inventive performances, audiences can witness a land-based synchronised swimming spectacle—a brilliantly comic and visually captivating take on aquatic choreography, performed entirely without water.

Against the stunning backdrop of one of England’s most picturesque hilltop towns, the Fringe promises another memorable weekend of laughter, music, and shared celebration.
