Clay takes centre stage at Dorset Ceramics Market

Date:

Potters, ceramic artists and collectors will gather in Dorchester this summer for a one-day celebration of contemporary ceramics, showcasing the breadth of work being created across Dorset and beyond.

The Dorset Ceramics Market returns to the Corn Exchange on 11th July, bringing together more than 25 makers working in clay. Organised by Dorset Clay Cooperative, the event offers visitors the chance to meet artists directly and explore a wide range of work, from functional tableware and homewares to sculpture, jewellery and garden ceramics.
Among those taking part is Fynn Allen, winner of the 2026 series of Channel 4’s The Great Pottery Throw Down. Travelling from his Cornwall studio, Allen will be exhibiting alongside Dorset potter Diana Parker, a semi-finalist in the programme’s eighth series, whose work combines porcelain and stoneware with decorative techniques. The market reflects the growing popularity of ceramics as both an art form and a craft, with exhibitors using a variety of making and firing methods to produce distinctive pieces. Alongside established potters who regularly exhibit nationally, visitors will also find emerging makers taking part in their first public market.
For Dorset audiences, the event offers an opportunity to discover the variety of contemporary ceramics being produced across the region and to learn more about the skills and processes behind the finished work.
The Dorset Ceramics Market takes place at Dorchester Arts’ Corn Exchange on Saturday 11th July from 10am to 4pm. Admission is free.
