Christmas markets, wreath-making workshops, carol concerts and a festive singalong with actor Martin Clunes are among the events being organised by Julia’s House Children’s Hospice this winter.
The charity, which supports nearly 200 families across Dorset and Wiltshire, is inviting local communities to join its seasonal fundraising programme, with proceeds helping provide specialist care for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.
The festivities begin with a Christmas Artisan Market at Bromham Community Hub in Wiltshire on Sunday 22nd November, from 10am to 2pm, featuring handmade gifts, refreshments and a raffle. Entry and parking are free.
Wreath-making workshops will take place at the charity’s Devizes Wharf shop on Sunday 6th December and its Warminster shop on Monday 14th December, with tickets costing £35 per person.
A Christmas carol concert at Christ Church in Swindon on Monday 7th December will feature traditional carols, readings from Julia’s House families and performances by a local choir.
In Dorset, actor and Julia’s House patron Martin Clunes will join the charity for its Big Community Sing at St Peter’s Church in Poole on Saturday 12th December. The evening will include favourite Christmas songs and performances by Cadence vocal group and the Julia’s House Choir. Tickets cost £15.
The charity is also preparing for its annual Christmas tree collection and recycling scheme, which will run from 7th to 9th January 2027. Residents in participating postcode areas can register by 4th January to have their real Christmas trees collected from their doorsteps in return for a donation.

Volunteers with vans are being sought to help with collections across Dorset and Wiltshire.
Julia’s House provides nursing care, respite, emotional and practical support, and emergency end-of-life care, both in family homes and at its hospices in Corfe Mullen and Devizes. All services are free to families, with the charity relying on fundraising, donations and legacies for around 92 per cent of its running costs.
Its services have been rated outstanding by the Care Quality Commission in both Dorset and Wiltshire.
Julia’s House charity shops will also be selling Christmas cards, decorations and gifts throughout the festive season.
