From dining table to 30 staff for MJP Law

A Wimborne law firm that began at a family dining table has grown to 30 staff in three offices as it marks 20 years in business.
MJP Law was founded by Martin Pate in 2006, initially from his home before opening its first office in Verwood. A second office followed in West Borough, Wimborne, the following year.

The firm later expanded through the acquisition of several local practices in Bournemouth, Westbourne and Verwood. It now operates from three offices in Wimborne and Kinson, advising on conveyancing, wills, probate and trusts and family law.
MJP Law has also supported 15 trainee solicitors over the past two decades and currently employs three apprentices. Martin, who began his legal career in government before moving into private practice. ‘When I started out, I wanted to create a legal practice that was client-focused, transparent on fees and free from unnecessary jargon,’ he said. ‘People need practical advice they can understand, especially at important and often stressful moments in their lives.’
MJP Law also supports a number of local organisations and causes, while Martin has held roles with organisations including Wimborne BID, the Tivoli Theatre and Friends of Victoria Hospital.The anniversary was marked with an event for staff and clients at Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra’s Proms in the Park.
