JOB ROLE: Maintenance Operative
RESPONSIBLE TO: Estates Team Leader
JOB PURPOSE: To provide efficient and effective support to the school including ensuring the general appearance of the buildings and surrounding areas are maintained. To carry out all maintenance, generic building and project tasks as directed by the Estates manager.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Bricklaying, masonry repairs, plastering and rendering.
• General building maintenance and repairs across the school estate.
• Assisting with carpentry, plumbing, painting, glazing, heating and ventilation work where required and appropriate to your experience.
• Supporting planned maintenance and refurbishment projects• Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Operating and maintaining tools, equipment and materials safely and effectively.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across the Operations and Estates teams.
Skills, Experience and Personal attributes required Essential
The ability to complete all duties unsupervised and be able to lead/supervise others if required.
• Possesses a strong understanding of health and safety requirements.
• Has experience using a range of manual and powered tools.
• Is physically capable of carrying out maintenance duties, including lifting, climbing and working at height where appropriately trained.
• Can work independently, manage their time effectively and meet deadlines.
• Has good communication and teamwork skills.
• Is willing to undertake further training and professional development as required.
• Has basic IT skills, including email and the use of handheld devices.
This position is a year-round post.
8:00 – 4:30pm with half an hour unpaid lunch break.
5 weeks paid holiday.
A competitive salary is offered to the successful candidate depending on experience and qualification.
