A popular Bridport antiques and vintage market has donated £1,000 to a community food-growing project helping to make the town greener and more productive.
The £1,000 donation from the Bridport Vintage Sunday Market will support Edible Bridport, part of the Bridport Food Matters initiative, which transforms underused public spaces into fruit, vegetable and herb gardens for everyone to enjoy.
Part of the funding will be used to create additional vegetable beds and renovate a courtyard at St Michael’s Trading Estate, home of the monthly market. The remainder will help develop further community growing spaces across Bridport. Run by volunteers, Edible Bridport works with schools, community groups and local residents to create productive gardens that provide free seasonal produce while encouraging people to learn gardening skills and strengthen community connections.
Held on the last Sunday of each month from March to October, the Bridport Vintage Sunday Market has become one of West Dorset’s best-known specialist markets, attracting up to 60 traders selling antiques, vintage items and retro collectables.
The next market takes place on Sunday 30th August at St Michael’s Trading Estate. Visitors can browse a wide range of antiques, vintage treasures and collectables while supporting a market that continues to give back to the local community.
