David Callaghan has visited an Ashmore business that benefited from lockdown

Trevor Mitchell’s painting of a generic 1940s high street scene is a stock item in the JHG Jigsaws range and is based on Poole High Street before the building of the Arndale (now Dolphin) Centre in the late 1960s.

ONCE the preserve of elderly relatives and long winter nights, the humble jigsaw puzzle has been undergoing something of a renaissance of late and in the vanguard is a family-run maker based in converted farm buildings on the outskirts of Ashmore. A lockdown success story, JHG Jigsaws saw business boom during the pandemic, attracting the attentions of national newspapers and broadcasters.
