Margery Hookings pays tribute to the village that has been her home for the last twenty years

The village, as seen from the slopes of Lewesdon, nestles into the lush landscape. A network of public footpaths criss-crosses the fields.

BROADWINDSOR nestles between the twin peaks of Lewesdon Hill and Pilsdon Pen in the far western corner of Dorset. At 279 metres, tree-clad Lewesdon just trumps Pilsdon (277 metres) as the highest point in the county. It’s where I walk with the dog most days, and during lockdown in particular, it’s been my special place. I make sure I’m there bright and early before anyone else
has even thought about venturing up
its slopes.
