THE present vicar suspects that it’s an apocryphal tale but whether he’s right or wrong, it’s too good a story not to tell. High above the altar at All Saints’ Church at Easton, Portland, is an artistic gem – a beautifully painted ceiling depicting the twelve signs of the zodiac. All Saints was built during World War 1 at the instigation of the then Rector of Portland, Rev. David Barnes Griggs.
