IT’S Christmas Day 1883 and a packed congregation at Wimborne Minster is admiring the festive decorations. As always, the seven-strong team of local ladies have excelled themselves, and reporters from the local papers are there to describe their efforts in great detail. ‘The old Minster was decorated in a very artistic manner,’ reports the Salisbury and Winchester Journal. ‘The chancel and the font, in particular, looked remarkably pretty.
